I absolutely enjoy every minute of taking this amazing family's pictures. I have known Sheri for several years and had the opportunity to work right across the hall from her. I have watched her kids grow from little tikes into the awesome young people they are today. Every photo shoot with this family is so much fun and I hope I am blessed enough to have the chance to photograph them for many years to come!

Fall Fun

I absolutely love fall with its changing leaves, sweater weather, and impending holiday season. I especially love the amazing families I get the chance to photograph in the fall season...and this family is no exception! Not only did we have to do a last minute time change...like literally the night before...due to the changing of the clocks, but we also had to deal with some pretty crazy winds, which isn't unusual in North Texas. The Saravanes were totally flexible and so easy to work with. The kids were amazing and we were able to get some pretty cool shots at Southern Jeweled. And the sunset....oh my! Halloween and Birthday

I have had the privilege of photographing this young lady twice...once with her family...and this time all by herself! She was Dorothy for Halloween and had the best outfit and perfect little dog for her costume! Lucky for us there was no Wicked Witch in sight, just a little visit from Glinda the Good Witch. And...I got the chance to take her birthday pics on the same day! It was terribly windy and the location was full of those pesky little stickers that attack you out of nowhere...but she was a trooper...and took some pretty awesome pics to boot! Enjoy!

Ayer Family

Meet the Ayer Family! I have known Aaron for...gulp...over 20 years (I am wincing as I type this because I can't believe I have been friends with some people for over 20 years...ahhhh!). Aaron and I pretty much grew up together and it is an amazing experience to have the opportunity to photograph him and his family, and then enjoy the cool Maine night roasting S'mores around the campfire! They are amazing people who love their family, friends, and farm. I miss you, Ayer Family! Until next time....

Love is in the air with Robert & Kristen! I felt so privileged to be able to take their wedding photos. I work with Robert's mom...who just happens to be one of the nicest people I am lucky enough to know. I have known their family for several years and I couldn't have been more excited to take this couple's wedding photos. Robert is such a kind soul and Kristen is just the sweetest. They were both so flexible and fun to work with...and I know they will have many long, happy years together. With no further ado...

Maine 2014

If you know me, you know I L-O-V-E Maine! It's where I spent most of my childhood and young adulthood...Northern Maine, about 30 minutes from the Canadian border. It is beautiful and harsh at the same time. Winters are COLD and LONG! Summers are short and filled with mosquitos and black flies, campfires and bug spray are a must to keep the bugs away in the evenings, but that can't keep me away. Most people I meet are well aware of the beauty of Southern Maine...the coastline, lobsters, Acadia National Park, and all those sweet coastal islands that are...well...perfect. However, there is another Maine. Like the rest of Maine, Northern Maine is full of mountains, lakes, rivers, farms, and hard-working people. It is full of Small Town, USAs that boast awesome local restaurants and tons of outdoor activities. Don't get me wrong, Maine isn't without its issues...just like any other state. But, Maine is my go-to place. I love it, I miss it, and I always look forward to going back for a visit and staying as long as I can. It is beautiful all year round and I hope you enjoy this little glimpse of summer in Maine.

Autumn

It has been busy, busy, busy around here! Thus, I have been waaaaay behind on my blog. Not to worry...I am starting the catch-up process right now with Miss Autumn! This lovely lady just graduated from high school last week and is on to bigger and better things. She was such a great senior to photograph because of her fun spirit. She is a total natural at the picture taking thing. Every time she heard my camera click she would change positions and faces. And to top it all off...the weather and light. They were A-MAZ-ING!

Big Blue Sky

Well, this week was spring break! Woo-hoo! We had originally planned to take our kids camping. However, at the last minute we decided to take a road trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico and I couldn't be happier that we did so! What a BEAUTIFUL area! We took in local sites and ate at local restaurants. The best part of the trip was our jaunt to the Rio Grande Gorge in Taos. AMAZING!

Just Be

To be honest, I have never written a blog...EVER! I have friends who have written blogs and I have blogs that I keep up with regularly. But, I have never written a blog....EVER! Thus, I thought it appropriate to title my first blog "Just Be". My husband is always reminding me to enjoy the moment that I am in...and this summer he used two simple words that really stuck with me and actually describes much of my photography style..."Just Be". When I have had family portraits or portraits of my children taken in the past, I unnecessarily stressed myself out trying to have them in the perfect outfits with the perfect hair and smiles. I have learned that sometimes the best pictures are those that show people "just being".

Take this little gem for instance...we were in Maine this summer and I was taking pictures of my two kids and three of their cousins. This little guy is my nephew and he is three. The older kids were trying to get him to sit on the roof of the truck with them but he wasn't interested. So, instead of forcing the issue, I took this photo and it has become one of my favorites! They are just being themselves and despite the fact that you can't see all of their faces, you can tell a little something about each one of their personalities.

And then there is this one...

Again, another one of my favorites. About 20 minutes into the photos my nephew totally lost interest and started playing with this old tricycle in front of my in-laws' barn. I couldn't have planned it any better!
